Chasing the Golden Duck is an ongoing project in which I place a gold-painted inflatable duck in various rivers, streams and other bodies of water while traveling and then photograph it. This obviously artificial, ephemeral fantasy animal serves as an avatar for childlike innocence in our relationship to the natural environment. With playfulness and simplicity, it reflects an imagined ideal version of that relationship while underscoring our often tragic reality.
