Post Tenebras Lux: Light After Darkness. (ongoing project)
Revisits the use of religious icons in art. I spray-paint religious objects black and photograph them against a black background. My intention is to open a dialogue about the place of icons as mythological referents in art and life, exploring their evolving function and significance at personal and cultural levels. The color black inverts the classical ideal; disrupts boundaries between figure and ground; and represents a visual trope on accepted ideas of spiritual enlightenment.
